Laser dust lighting

This idea came to me in the shower! I had been thinking about dust and the way that a shaft of light came in through the curtains and illuminated dust that you couldn't ordinarily see. My son had also won a laser pointer at a local fair as a toy and I had been playing around with it, noticing how it illuminates dust particles in the air. My father had always told me when you lose something on the floor, get your eye down to surface level and what you have lost will stand out against the flat floor. All of these thoughts came together and I realised I was on to something. I bought some lasers online and demonstrated the idea to my team in the lab. The results were spectacular! It's a visual idea, so easy to sell and solves a real problem in the home - how to ensure you have covered every inch of a hard floor. The team developed optics and worked on the right class of laser to be eye safe and the concept went on to be one of the most visually compelling and sellable in the Floorcare line-up, soon to be copied by many competitors.
