About me:
I have successfully delivered cutting edge product innovation at Dyson for the past 15 years, inventing technologies, leading teams of Engineers and designers, creating and presenting long term strategy to Sir James Dyson and the board and delivering many successful projects.
After years of leadership at Dyson the time has come to explore new opportunities and use my skills in another business or to collaborate together on your problem.

my leadership journey
-
My first leadership opportunity came about when I was asked to look after two Design Engineers who were co-creating a collection of cleaner heads for Dyson, it was a wonderful opportunity and one that I relished and embraced.
-
My style - relatable, down to earth, honest and understanding. I lead by example and am always happy to do what I am asking others to do. As my leadership journey continued I went on to manage 12 Design Engineers and Senior Design Engineers in ‘New Product Innovation’.
-
Creating a great culture is key. At Dyson we were innovating, so a culture of openness, challenge, nurturing, accepting failure and positivity is essential.
-
Sustainable growth. During my time as Head of Innovation at Dyson I grew the team from 12 to 65 engineers, with ambitious and rapid hiring. This included growing our own testing and prototyping capabilities as well as 20 engineers to create our own innovation team for Robotics.
-
Developing practical and successful organisational structures is essential and working with amazing Senior Design managers and Principle engineers helped me to succeed in the role.
-
Over the years I have attended many leadership development courses and a few nuggets have stuck with me, one that I always use is the ‘trust equation’, I think it helps explain trust in a way that engineers can understand.
-
I regularly managed teams through the ‘change curve’ ensuring that I also had to accept and move through change quickly.
